Olbia Airport Trains

Passengers can board up to Olbia Airport trains on bus lines number 2 or 10, which run every 15 minutes between the airport and the train station, which is located in Via Gabriele D`Annunzio. From Olbia Airport trains start their journey at the main station in the south of the island in Cagliari, after that in Chillivani, then in Oristano from where the line divides into two ways: one who leads to Sassari and Porto Torres and the other one who leads to Golfo Arcani and Olbia, the place from where you take busses to the airport.

The journey from Cagliari to Olbia is made daily by five trains and a ticket costs 13.6 euro and the journey lasts four hours. The road from Sassari to Cagliari is made by five trains also and the ticket costs 12.7 euro per person and the journey takes three hours. People who want to get to Olbia from Sassari and vice versa have 7 trains available and the tickets cost 5.9 euro per person and the journey takes only 2 hours.

In Sardinia there isn`t only the “Y” shaped rail network, the other train service is the fabulous Green Train called Trenino Verde. This train will take you through wilderness and it will allow you to see some great landscapes like viaducts, rocky cliffs and other spectacular views. The landscapes situated on the rocky and inaccessible terrain can not be viewed by other ways, only by taking the Green Train. Tickets can be bought from the train, or from the stations.

The train line that transports the highest number of tourists is the Sassari-Nulvi-Palau Line which is another narrow gauge train. This line will offer you great landscapes like hillsides or historic viaducts. This service stops to the great Castle Malaspina which dates from the 13th century. Even though these train rides will show you some great monuments or viaducts, the main attraction is Sardinia itself with its fabulous views and gorgeous nature.

Trains in Sardinia are available from 7.00 am till 10.51 pm and if you want to go somewhere at night, you shouldn`t count the train as your way of getting back. Trains are great for passengers because they can get a smooth ride to their destination at low costs.
